Did you know that most people experience overwhelm and stress having to spend so much time working 'in' their business? As a result, they get frustrated not being able to:
Increase their revenue
Focus more on self-care
Grow and scale their businesses
Take much-needed breaks away from their businesses
Have more freedom in their businesses
You might be able to sympathise. In fact, I may have just described how you're feeling right now.
I can remember during those early stages of my entrepreneurial journey, I would be up all night working 'in' my business, unable to function properly the following day. I knew I was burning myself out but I kept going. Determined to make a success of my business and get through my long to-do list.
But when I first started my business I wasn't clear on what my priorities should be. I thought I had to do everything. Believing that this was the expectations for an entrepreneur who wanted to be successful.
The consequence was, that I found myself doing things in a haphazard manner. There was no real structure to my day nor the tasks that I was completing. But yet, I continued to muddle my way through my to-do list that quite honestly was not helping me to achieve my business goals and certainly not expeditiously.
I was constantly pedalling trying to build my business but what I didn't recognise is that I needed to really focus on my systems and processes. Yes, it can be an icky subject for many. But as I always say, 'if you don't have systems and processes, you do not have a business'.
If only I had realised that I just needed to build out my processes one at a time; these would be my blueprints for my business then I could have been able to focus more within my zone of genius whilst I delegated a lot of those non-revenue generating tasks to others or simply automate some of my tasks.
How much time could I have saved?
How much stress would I have avoided?
How much overwhelm could I have reduced?
Hindsight is always a great thing but at least I have learnt something from my past experiences and now have more freedom within my business. This is why I was so adamant to build a business around helping others with their systems and processes.
I know that all too often, whilst we are always busy within our businesses, we are sometimes busy doing the wrong things. Just like I learnt, the hard way, it is so important to evaluate our processes and tasks that make up those processes.Start documenting them and in doing so you are creating blueprints for your business. We need to think long-term, because whilst at the moment you may be a solopreneur without a team, at some point in the future you will have a team that you can delegate a lot of your tasks so that you can focus more on serving your clients.
A huge benefit of creating better systems and processes within your business this is that you will reward yourself with more time (remember that well-deserved break you are longing for). You can lose a lot of those hats that just weigh you down and start using your time to work more on your business and less in your
business. It's time to focus more on your zone of genius and not waste time on those non-money generating activities. Be precious about your time as you will not get it back.
You can even use that extra time you'll have to focus more on self-care. Picture yourself being able to catch up on all your favourite shows or taking leisurely strolls through the countryside or on the beach.
Just take care of yourself and improve your stress levels.
